Ferguson Tree Nursery

Posted: April 5, 2017

The Green Leaf Challenge is an initiative of Forests Ontario and the Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry. In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, we’re inviting Ontarians to join together to plant three million trees across the province.

There are many different ways to participate in the GLC. You can participate in a community tree planting event, donate in support of the GLC, or plant trees on your own and submit them to the online tree counter at greenleafchallenge.ca.

Planting stock can be purchased from nurseries across Ontario, including Ferguson Tree Nursery in Kemptville, Ontario. Ferguson has been in business for over 70 years and offers a wide selection of coniferous and hardwood barefoot seedlings. The nursery’s knowledgeable staff can help you select the species that will add value to your property and is best suited to its conditions.

Order from the Ferguson Tree Nursery before May 10, when sales of bareroot seedlings wrap up for the season! A minimum purchase of 50 seedlings is required, but a combination of species can be used. Larger stock is also available, so for more information please contact the Ferguson Tree Nursery directly at: (613) 258-0110 or by e-mail at info@fergusontreenursery.ca.

Planting trees can bring greater value to your property that benefits you as well as your community. Trees can create greater privacy, soil stabilization, and recreational space. By taking part in the Green Leaf Challenge and helping reach our goal of 3 million trees in 2017, you’ll be adding to greater forest cover with the eventual capacity to remove 6.6 million tonnes of carbon from our atmosphere by 2020.

Take the Green Leaf Challenge and help us fight climate change and give the gift of a greener and healthier future.
