Notice of upcoming Level 1 and Level 2 Tree Marking Courses, 2017

Posted: April 4, 2017

Two Level 1 Tree Marking Courses are scheduled for this year.  The first course is scheduled for May 29-June 2, 2017 and the second course will be held September 11-15, 2017 with both courses taking place in Huntsville, Ontario. Each course has a maximum of 24 participants so we will be able to offer a spot in the courses to 48 people.

The course beginning May 29 will be of special interest to those who require basic training sufficient to allow them to function in a tree marking crew under the supervision of a more experienced person for the upcoming season. We do have spaces available for the May/June course but those interested should register by May 1 for consideration.

The Level 1 course and exam cost is $2500 which includes 4 days of class and field instruction and a 1 day exam.  Students are responsible for their own accommodations.

The Level 2 course is a requirement for tree marking auditors, and its’ primary goal is to train forestry staff to consistently evaluate tree marking quality and infractions. The course combines 2 days of classroom and field instruction, and ½ day of written and field examinations, and will be delivered this year on June 6, 7 and 8 at the Canadian Ecology Centre near Mattawa, ON. A few positions are still open.

The Level 2 course and exam cost is $1500.

If any of your staff or partners require either Level 1 or 2 certification, please make them aware of this opportunity, and urge them to register through the Ministry’s “Learning Compass” platform. Anyone wishing to take either of these courses, or a Refresher course, can register online at: https://learningcompass.learnflex.net.
