Trees Ontario and Bentall Capital Partner in Rouge Park Planting
June 18, 2008 – On June 18, 2008, Trees Ontario and Bentall Capital hosted a fun filled tree planting day at Rouge Park. Three bus loads of Bentall employees made the trek to the out-of-the-city planting site where they put 100 new native trees in the ground.
The morning began with a short debrief from forestry expert and TO staff member, Tim Gray. Staff had the opportunity to discuss tree planting techniques and tips, as well as see some planting demonstrations before hitting the field to work. From there groups were formed and the planting began. Of the 100 trees planted, four native species were spread across the _ acre site. All planting, guard covering and mulch work wrapped up just before noon and the rain.
Overall, it was a great day and one of the first steps in greening a new space in Rouge Park.
Trees Ontario would like to acknowledge and thank all of the partners that made this event a success, which included: Bentall Capital, Rouge Park, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and the Town of Markham.
