Wo-Built Joins Trees Ontario to Improve Air Quality

TORONTO – August 12, 2008 – Trees Ontario and Wo-Built Inc. are proud to announce a partnership that will connect home renovations with improving air quality and natural landscapes through tree planting.

Wo-Built Inc. is a female-led renovation, design and build company in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), with a desire to promote environmentally friendly actions. To help make that happen, Wo-Built will make a donation to Trees Ontario to plant a minimum of one tree for each new customer the company engages.

The connection with Wo-Built will assist Trees Ontario in its commitment to increase the forested landscape of Ontario’s private lands by supporting local tree planting initiatives. Trees capture carbon from the air and release it as oxygen. One healthy mature tree releases enough oxygen back in the atmosphere to support two human beings for one year. Trees also provide food and shelter for wildlife and their cooling shade can help reduce the summer demand on the power grid.

“We welcome Wo-Built as a Trees Ontario partner,” said Michael Scott, President and CEO, Trees Ontario. “Their commitment will help increase our tree planting capacity by putting more healthy trees into the ground, and demonstrates how local businesses can make an impact that will be felt all over southern Ontario.”

“Because we use a lot of timber in our renovation and construction projects, this is one way we are able to give back to the environment and we are proud to have partnered with Trees Ontario to help with its’ afforestation efforts,” says CEO and co-founder of Wo-Built Inc., Martina Ernst.

About Wo- Built

Wo-Built was established in 2006 with a social mission in mind. As a female-led design and build company, specializing in additions and extensions, they are committed to getting more women involved in the skilled trades. They believe that they are great assets to the home building industry, especially in the finishing trades. But the vision to accomplish this goes a lot further.

Over the next few years, the goal is to make women’s presence on building sites a more common occurrence. With this objective in mind, Wo-Built’s mission is to develop a program of training and mentoring to help women attain their career goals in a mostly male-dominated industry (the skilled trades sector). Wo-Built hopes to open more doors and provide more opportunities for women who strive for a career in the building/finishing trades.

Wo-Built is a proud member of the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD). Learn more about Wo-Built at
