Trees Ontario Celebrates the Green Kitchen with Tree Canada, BergHOFF and the Grand River Conservation
OTTAWA, ONTARIO–(Marketwire – June 30, 2009) – On Friday, June 26, BergHOFF International and Tree Canada celebrated their successful partnership with a ceremonial tree planting at Luther Marsh Wildlife Management Area, near Orangeville, Ont. – the home of BergHOFF’s new forest.
BergHOFF International sponsored the planting of 30,000 trees across southern Ontario. This initiative was made possible through the launch of the Earthchef brand at the Hudson Bay Company. For each 11″ Earthchef skillet sold BergHOFF sponsors Tree Canada to plant a tree.
“BergHOFF is delighted to be working with Tree Canada and Hudson Bay Company to make our community a greener place. The Earthchef brand was designed for Canadians and it is about helping Canadians preserve our green community, while promoting a sustainable way of life. With the help of Tree Canada, The Bay, Zellers and Home Outfitters, but most importantly, the customer, we were able to make a significant contribution in improving our quality of life,” said Peter Vivona of BergHOFF Canada.
There are 5,000 trees planted at the Luther Marsh site, including sugar maple, white pine and white spruce. The planting was organized through Tree Canada’s planting partners, Trees Ontario and the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA).
“We are grateful for all the hard work by BergHOFF and our partners,” said Michael Rosen, Tree Canada President. “These trees planted at Luther Marsh will help naturalize one of southern Ontario’s most significant wildlife areas and improve the benefits of this wetland.”
“Trees Ontario was thrilled to work in partnership with Tree Canada and our tree planting agency, Grand River Conservation Authority, on this provincial program for BergHOFF,” said Michael Scott, President and CEO. “The trees planted as a result of this partnership support our tree planting targets and efforts to regreen the province.”
