Annual 65th OFA Conference – Register for the largest forest stewardship event in Ontario
Toronto, Ont., February 12, 2014 – Join the Ontario Forestry Association’s (OFA) for its 65th annual conference on Feb. 21 at the Nottawasaga Inn in Alliston. The conference will explore the theme of forest communities in Ontario – the communities of forests, animals and people and how they are all connected, adapting to change and thriving.
“For 65 years this event has helped bridge the gap between those entering the forestry sector and established forestry professionals,” says Carla Grant, OFA’s executive director. “It’s also a great opportunity to bring together landowners who can learn from each other’s experiences.”
The annual conference, which is Ontario’s largest forest stewardship event, is expected to bring together upwards of 300 attendees from across the province. Session topics will include taxation, business planning and accounting for woodlots and gaining access to local wood markets. In celebration of the organization’s milestone anniversary, the conference will also explore how to sustain forest resources for future generations.
As in previous years the event will feature the White Pine Silent Auction with proceeds supporting popular education programs, including the Ontario Envirothon, Focus on Forests and Forestry Connects. Those interested in contributing to the auction can contact the OFA at 1-800-387-0790. Donations of forest-related items, including equipments, tools, experiences and resources, are welcome.
