Growing Green Leaders with the Ontario Envirothon
Posted: February 24, 2017
The Ontario Envirothon is a unique environmental competition that connects high school students to the outdoors. Participants are challenged to learn fundamental environmental stewardship skills and, as a team of five, test their knowledge against other local schools through hands-on tests. As part of the competition, students also work in their team to develop a solution to a real life environmental challenge and present their solution to a panel of judges.
The Ontario Envirothon grows leadership skills by fostering collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving skills. The program provides students with hands on training and encourages exploration beyond the classroom.
From Kenora to Thuner Bay to Niagara Falls, Ontario Envirothon events take place in over 15 communities across province. Each regional competition produces a winning team which advances to the provincial competition taking place from May 28th – 31st at Fleming College in Lindsay.
The Ontario Envirothon Champions will also get a chance to represent their school and the province at the 2017 North American Envirothon in Maryland, defending Ontario’s championship title against more than fifty other teams. A great experience to add to a resume or post-secondary school application!
Teams that register before March 1st, 2017 will receive an automatic 20% off registration fees.
