Faces of Forests Ontario: Alex Walker

Posted: July 31, 2018

Name: Alex Walker

Position: Heritage Tree Intern

Favourite tree: Northern catalpa

Joining the Forests Ontario team for the summer is Alex Walker, our Heritage Tree Intern. Working alongside Forests Ontario’s Education Manager Allison Hands, Alex is busy learning the ropes, reaching out to interested organizations, and fielding questions about the Heritage Tree program.

Alex is currently working towards her Masters degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Toronto, where she was introduced to and gained an appreciation for urban forestry. Working at Forests Ontario has been an excellent fit for her, as it compliments her interest in emphasizing and preserving natural spaces through design. Alex is looking forward to networking with like-minded individuals, and hopes to one day establish her own practice where she can create spaces that make sense, both for people and for the environment. Until then, you can find her strumming her ukulele or in the kitchen baking up something delicious!
