Faces of Forests Ontario: Kim Sellers
Posted: August 9, 2018
Name: Kim Sellers
Position: Development Officer
Favourite Tree: Corkscrew Willow
Kim has been with Forests Ontario as the Development Officer since early 2017. Through her role, Kim supports all of Forests Ontario’s programs in varying capacity, whether through liaising with or reporting back to our sponsors or partners; researching, writing, and reviewing proposals for new opportunities; managing Forests Ontario’s deliverables and ensuring contract fulfillment; or fielding questions that come her way. Kim is passionate about the diversity and reach of Forests Ontario’s various programs and enjoys promoting their importance to all audiences.
Born and raised in Toronto, Kim now lives with her family in Ajax. Following the completion of a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Zoology at the University of Guelph, she worked a variety of jobs for municipal and federal governments, small businesses, and large corporations. Most notably, she has been an Entomology Technician for the Canadian Forestry Service, a Flying Squirrel Field Technician in Algonquin Park, and an Asian Long-Horned Beetle Specialist for the City of Toronto. She now sits on the Ajax Environmental Advisory Committee and acts as the Ajax Representative and vice chair for the Durham Environmental Advisory Committee. Through these experiences, Kim developed a strong interest in forestry, insects, and the environment, which serve her well at Forests Ontario.
Kim enjoys spending time with her young family, watching superhero movies, and reading. Another one of her passions is volunteering – most recently, she volunteered for the Pan Am Games in Ajax as well as the Toronto International Film Festival. She hopes to continue developing personally and professionally through obtaining her Project Management Professional certification and pursuing volunteer roles in her community.
