Faces of Forests Ontario: Andrea Curley
Posted: August 16, 2018
Name: Andrea Curley
Position: Manager of Business Development
Favourite Tree: Sugar maple
Andrea began working at Forests Ontario in September 2017 as the Education and Outreach Coordinator, but has since transitioned into her new role as the Manager of Business Development. As such, Andrea keeps busy by communicating with Forests Ontario’s planting partners and corporate sponsors, discovering new opportunities for growth, and organizing the financing of our popular community and employee tree plants. A true social butterfly, Andrea excels at engaging with external individuals and organizations to identify ways in which Forests Ontario can benefit them, and vice versa.
Prior to joining FO, Andrea attended the University of Guelph, where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences as well as a Masters of Environmental Science. She then went on to work with sharks as a research assistant at the Bimini Biological Field Station and in freshwater ecology research for several consulting companies. Working at Forests Ontario has allowed Andrea to branch away from the marine sector and expand her knowledge of forestry. However, a water-lover through and through, she would like to see Forests Ontario add a wetlands component to their programming.
Andrea loves toasted coconut ice-cream, which she offsets by being active; in fact, she runs the “Get Fit Forests” program at lunch three times a week. Unsurprisingly, she also enjoys swimming, snorkeling, and being by the water.
