Faces of Forests Ontario: Suzie Perry
Posted: September 11, 2018
Name: Suzie Perry
Position: Restoration Coordinator
Favourite Tree: Tamarack
Suzie first joined Forests Ontario as the Forestry Outreach Coordinator two years ago, though her role has since expanded to Restoration Coordinator. Suzie is responsible for the operational side of the 50 Million Tree program, acting as a main contact for landowners and planting partners and overseeing site and report approval. Passionate not only about tree planting but also about educating people on the value of tree cover, Suzie feels rewarded by the tangible outcome of her hard work at Forests Ontario.
Suzie holds a Bachelor of Science from Queens University, where she specialized in biology and psychology. Recognizing her growing interest in ecology and conservation, she began looking for a related field to compliment her background; she eventually stumbled upon and completed a Masters of Forest Conservation from the University of Toronto. Now, Suzie is enjoying building her network of coworkers, field advisors, planting partners, landowners, and government personnel.
When Suzie isn’t in the office or out in the field, she enjoys travelling and hiking. You can find her in the baseball diamond playing softball in the summer, or on the ski slopes in the winter. She is also on the race committee at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club.
