In recognition of the physical and mental health benefits of getting outdoors and connecting with nature, outdoor clothing company, Patagonia, has partnered with not-for-profit charity, Forests Ontario, for Earth Day. Patagonia’s down Toronto store will feature a Forests Ontario donations box from April 22nd to 28th, the week of Earth Day, with all proceeds going to tree planting, education and awareness efforts.
Patagonia is well-known for their mission of building the best possible products without causing unnecessary ecological harm. As internationally recognized environmental advocates, the company has contributed more than $100 million in grants and in-kind donations. Patagonia’s commitment to sustainability, and to reducing their environmental impact, is the cornerstone of their business model.
“Forests Ontario is proud to partner with a forward-thinking company like Patagonia, one that has demonstrated an impressive level of environmental and social responsibility,” says Forests Ontario CEO, Rob Keen, RPF. “This relationship creates an exciting opportunity to further our mission of enhancing our forests to support healthy communities, while also complimenting Patagonia’s commitment to connecting with nature.”
Forests Ontario, the voice of our forests, is dedicated to making the province’s forests greener by supporting forest restoration, stewardship, education, and awareness efforts. To date, Forests Ontario has planted more than 24 million trees over 36,600 acres.
“Having access to forests is so important,” said Mason Prout, Environmental Point Person at Patagonia. “The money raised at our store for Forests Ontario will go towards creating spaces where people can find solitude in nature, or go on adventures with friends.”
Forests Ontario is grateful for the support of Patagonia and their customers; this support will contribute to their mission of securing a greener and healthier future for all Ontarians.
