Faces of Forests Ontario: Hannah Freedberg
Posted: July 16, 2019
Name: Hannah Freedberg
Position: Outreach and Engagement Coordinator
Favourite Tree: Dogwood
We are very excited to have Hannah join our team for the summer as an intern! She will be working primarily on the It Takes a Forest campaign, and is looking forward to working with Forests Ontario to further her experience in forestry and outreach.
Hannah started her education with a degree in Engineering at McMaster University. However, two years into her degree she decided she would be much happier pursuing a degree in the environment and conservation. In September 2019, she will be entering her final year of her Bachelor of Science in Forest Conservation and Forest Biomaterials at the University of Toronto!
Growing up in Toronto, Hannah loved the city, but her favourite part of the year was always the summer which she split between her cottage and summer camp. As a young kid she developed a love for the outdoors – especially canoe tripping and hiking! Hannah is incredibly passionate about nature and loves to advocate for the personal benefits of spending time immersed in nature. She is very excited to be able to work with so many like-minded people for an organization that aligns so perfectly with her own personal beliefs and passions.
Hannah spends most of her time either walking or running with her two dogs, swimming (mostly in the lake in the summer time!), and volunteering at the ROM‘s biodiversity galleries. In the future, Hannah looks forward to finishing her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto and hopes to continue to further pursue education by getting her Masters in a related field.
