About the Ontario Envirothon

The Ontario Envirothon program would not be possible without the generous support of the teachers. Provided below is the program rationale and how you can use Ontario Envirothon in your classroom.

Ontario Envirothon is an interactive environmental education program in English and French for youth from grades 9 to 12. This program is delivered through field trips, resource materials and competitions at the regional, provincial, and international level. Regional competitions take place throughout the school year, with the Ontario Envirothon Championship taking place in spring. The winning Ontario team goes on to compete in the North American Envirothon Competition.

  • The Ontario Envirothon promotes teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving skills for participants.
  • The Ontario Envirothon is a hands-on environmental education program of Forests Ontario. A province-wide network of educators and resource professionals delivers this program through resource materials, field trips, workshops and competitions.
  • Over 15 regional competitions take place throughout the year with the Ontario Envirothon Championship taking place in the spring and the North American Envirothon Competition in the summer.
