TOF Partnership with Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters

Trees Ontario Foundation (TOF) is proud to announce their new partnership with the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) to support the implementation of the Atlantic Salmon Restoration project.

Ontario’s Atlantic Salmon were declared extirpated from our lakes over 100 years ago due to a failure to understand habitat conservation. With support from all conservation partners and Trees Ontario Foundation’s role, this initiative is considered to be one of the most important freshwater restoration projects in North America.

It is a five-year program that is the most ambitious restoration ever undertaken in this province. For this year, projects will be focused on the Credit, Duffins and Cobourg waters systems.

TOF’s role will be to work with the OFAH and CAs to provide tree planting on riparian and headwater areas. Maintaining these areas in a natural state protects the waters and ensures appropriate and improved habitat conditions for the fisheries.
