Trees Ontario Gold Level Sponsor at OFA’s 60th Conference and AGM

Friday, February 6, 2009 – The Ontario Forestry Association (OFA) marks their 60th anniversary this year and celebrated this milestone at their annual conference, “The Value of our Forests”, which was held at the Nottawasaga Inn in Alliston on Friday, February 6, 2009.

The conference explored the substantial value of Ontario’s forested regions – from privately managed woodlots to pristine old growth. Conference partners discussed the integral role that forests play in Canada’s economy, as well as their significance in maintaining environmental health and ecosystem diversity.

The day consisted of eight speaker sessions, on topics ranging from “Forest Health Review for Landowners” and “Recovery of our Heritage Trees” to “The Value of Natural Capital” and “Ecological Goods & Services”. Conference attendees also had a chance to view the many exhibits on display and visit the White Pine Silent Auction. At the end of the day, the OFA held their Annual General Meeting, followed by the President’s Reception.

As a Gold Level sponsor of the conference Trees Ontario hosted an exhibit in the main hall where staff were on hand to provide information on the Ministry of Natural Resources’ 50 Million Tree Program and other subsidy programs available.

Trees Ontario is a proud partner of the OFA and wishes to congratulate them on their 60th anniversary.

The Ontario Forestry Association is a non-profit, registered charity, dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of all aspects of Ontario’s forests, and to develop commitment to stewardship of forest ecosystems.
